  • Diversified Technique
The manipulation/adjustment technique entails a very specific, high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust to restore spinal alignments and range of motion that usually results in a cavitation of a joint (quick, shallow thrusts that cause the popping noise often associated with a chiropractic manipulation/adjustment). It is the most widely used chiropractic technique and includes the most common procedures taught in chiropractic schools. 1
  • Extremity Adjusting / Manipulating
The manipulation/adjustment to joints not in or along the spine. These can include shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, fingers, hips, knees, ankles, feet, and toes. 1
  • Thompson Drop-Table
This specific chiropractic adjustment method/technique uses a specially designed chiropractic table with several padded sections that have drop mechanisms called drop pieces. These table sections are designed to be raised slightly and then drop back down under the patient when the adjustment thrust is delivered. The purpose of a drop section is to minimize the force required for an adjustment and assist the thrust in distracting (opening) the joint. This technique is comfortable for most patients. Cavitation may or may not occur with this adjustment technique. 1
  • Logan Basic Technique
This is a specific chiropractic technique in which light pressure is applied to the ligaments of the sacrum. Light force is concurrently applied to various spinal levels to reduce pain/symptoms and restore muscle balance. This technique is very gentle, and one of the lowest force adjustment techniques available, making it an effective method for infants, young children, and seniors. 1
  • Flexion / Distraction
This specific chiropractic adjustment method/technique uses a specially designed chiropractic table that allows for gentle stretching (distraction) and flexing of the spine. This technique is generally used to treat disc disorders, non-disc spinal disorders, and to increase the mobility of spinal joints. 1
  • Activator Methods Instrument Adjusting
This technique involves a hand-held, spring-loaded instrument-based protocol and adjustment to deliver a precise, controlled adjustment to a contact point. The Activator instrument delivers a soft, light, quick thrust/impulse. The protocol can be applied to all patients and offers an alternate adjustment method to those patients who may not desire the traditional hands-on adjustment methods, or that may have a contraindication to manual adjustments. It can be used on the spine and on extremities. 1
  • Spinal Mobilization
A manual therapy technique that involves gentle thrusting motions and stretching to relieve/loosen musculoskeletal pressure on joints, reduce inflammation, and improve neuromuscular feedback and nerve function. 1
  • Spinal Decompression
A manual chiropractic technique designed to gently stretch and decompress the spine. It is used in the treatment of disc-related injuries and pain. 1
